Alain Menu takes over the role of Drivers’ Advisor in Valencia

Former WTCC title contender and BTCC double champion Alain Menu will be the Drivers' Advisor for the Kumho TCR World Tour event in Valencia, replacing Pedro Lamy who has another commitment. Menu will fill the role again at Paul Ricard and the two events in China. 

“I’m very much looking forward to Valencia,” Menu said. “It will be very interesting to have a chat with the Stewards before the racing begins and hear what they expect from me. What’s intrigues me is to find out how it is from their side of the room, because in my racing career I have only been the other side of the fence…”

Do you think that racing and drivers’ behaviour has changed since your touring car years?
“Frankly I don’t know, because I haven’t followed motorsport in latest years. But drivers are drivers, so I don’t expect any change in the way they behave at the wheel. For sure my experience will massively help me to understand their behaviour and realise if it’s malicious.”

What do you think should be the skills of a driver advisor?

“Above all he must be impartial. My approach will be looking out carefully and form my opinion in case I am asked for it.”

And then Menu, whose last touring car appearance was at Dubai in the 2017 TCR International Series, concluded with an interesting note: “The most funny thing will be meeting Yann Ehrlacher as a racing driver, since the last time I saw him, he was a kid visiting his uncle Yvan Muller, my teammate at the Chevrolet WTCC team!”
