Only two weeks after racing at the Inje Speedium in South Korea, the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour returns into action this weekend for the penultimate event of the season at Zhuzhou International Circuit in China.
The event was intended to feature the two-race format, but it was changed to three-race format for recovering the third race that was cancelled in Australia.
Therefore, like at Inje, only the top ten in Q1 will advance to Q2, the first ten drivers in Race 1 will be reversed on the grid for Race 2 and the grid for Race 3 will be determined by the sum of points scored in qualifying and the first two races.
In the Drivers' Championship, Yann Ehrlacher of Lynk & Co Cyan Racing keeps on leading with a margin of 42 points over his teammate Thed Björk, while GOAT Racing's Esteban Guerrieri has slipped down to third, three further points adrift.
One of the topics of the weekend is the return of Will Brown who replaces Josh Buchan - the winner of Inje Race 1 - in one of the Hyundai Elantra cars run by HMO Customer Racing. The last time Brown - 2019 TCR Australia champion and the reigning Supercars champion - joined the World Tour in 2023 he was capable of knocking the whole field into shape scoring a pair of authoritative wins at Sydney.
The situation in the Teams' Championship is different, as Lynk & Co Cyan Racing is just one step from clinching the title. The team has built a healthy lead in the standings, 242 points over BRC Hyundai Squadra Corse, which means that it could already secure a third consecutive crown after the first race in Zhuzhou.
