Gabriele Covini will make his debut in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour with BRC Racing Team on the occasion of the season opener this weekend in Misano.
After two seasons in TCR Italy, Covini has moved this year to TCR Europe in which he finished third in the first event at Mugello before setting the pole position in the TCR Europe Cup at Spa-Francorchamps.
“I’m excited to take part in the first event of the TCR World Tour. It’s a great opportunity to compete against some of the best drivers at international level and to continue my development. I’m approaching the challenge with strong motivation, knowing that I can rely on a top-level team that I know well. The goal is to work in the right direction from the start, learn as much as possible and build solid performances,” said Covini.
BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse Team Principal Gabriele Rizzo said: “It’s great to have Gabriele at this event. He has made significant progress and we are proud for being an active part of his development as a driver since the beginning of his career. His participation reflects what makes the TCR category so unique. The cars can compete across all championships without technical changes and the World Tour allows single event entries, which gives the drivers who race in national and regional series the opportunity to step into the World Tour environment and compete against the very best. A truly open and unparalleled platform in touring car racing.”
