Yann Ehrlacher, 1st: “It’s good to be on pole on Geely’s home soil. We have missed out on a couple of qualifying, but we knew the pace we had in free practice, even it was a bit eventful, we just focussed on our driving and on ourselves and it paid off, and now I’m looking forward to the race now.”
Mikel Azcona, 2nd: “With 40kg of Compensation Weight, it was not easy. You need to have a good balance on the car here and it makes a big difference, and we compensated the kilos by putting the car in a very good window and this allowed me to be super-fast in the second sector, but we’re not on the level of Yann in sectors one and three, but that’s something to be expected. My plan is to finish races and take points.”
Jean-Karl Vernay, 7th: “I’m frustrated as we had problems with all three sets of tyres. I did my fastest lap time in FP2 yesterday and the car was great, I was only a few tenths off but then the three sets were getting worse and worse and had absolutely no grip. We’ll definitely make use of the reversed grid, but it’s super-frustrating as had a good preparation and good practice, and our hopes were to be in the top four, but it’s something we don’t understand.”
