Championship leader Santiago Urrutia has had a difficult start to the weekend, missing all of Free Practice 1 because of an engine issue. With the Geely Cyan Racing team having had to replace the engine, the Uruguayan will drop 12 places for the first race tomorrow.
It was a double blow for the team, as Ma Qing Hua's car also stopped in the first session with an engine issue, and the Chinese driver will also drop 12 places for Race 1.
Teammates Thed Björk and Yann Ehrlacher otherwise had strong sessions, finishing third in Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 respectively, while Urrutia got on track in Free Practice 2 with his replacement engine and was fifth quickest, just over three-tenths of a second behind title rival Mikel Azcona's Hyundai.
