BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse endured a tough qualifying session for the first event of the season in Mexico City, with all three cars failing to make it into Q2 in this morning’s qualifying session.
While Mikel Azcona suffered with a technical issue and ended his session early, reigning champion Norbert Michelisz was the best-placed qualifier for the team and will start this afternoon’s first race from 12th on the grid in his Hyundai Elantra N TCR.
“We knew from yesterday it was going to be tough for us,” said Michelisz. “We did our best, but somehow we’ve been struggling on the straight line compared to the others. The car feels good, so there’s no mechanical issue in terms of car balance, just for some reason we are not able to perform as well in the straight. It’s still a long season, so I want to take the positives, though it’s bad this might happen on a weekend where we have three races. We will still push, there’s not a lot else we can do, and there’s many things that can happen in the race, so we’ll do our best.”
