ProRally Mothers’ Julio Rejón enjoyed a seventh-place finish for the first race of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, the best of the Mexican drivers. He was also running in second place at the start, going wide and dropping a few positions.
“We’ve been working for this for almost half a year, so I’m really happy with my team. I was kind of shocked at the start, as we’ve never done a standing start before. I was surprised, as there were a lot of cars that were still. I trusted the tyres too much into T1, but I was able to recover. We’re still a few tenths off the pace, so we’ve got some work to do tomorrow.
It’s a bittersweet feeling, because we were the first from TCR México, but we want to be with the faster ones; we’re happy, but we want to make the top five maybe. I think I’m losing a bit of time in the braking zones, but tomorrow I hope we will be quicker.”
