Junesung Park’s second outing in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour saw him score a career-best result of fifth in his home race, and also the ETS Guest Star Trophy for race-by-race entries for the Solite Indigo Racing team.
The South Korean driver made a strong start, and joined a battle between the Geely of Yann Ehrlacher and the CUPRA of Aurélien Comte during the first laps. Park was able to make a daring pass on the reigning champion to take fifth, and very nearly was able to get ahead of Comte to claim fourth, but the French driver managed to pull away, leaving Park to have a safe run to the chequered and pick up the best result for both himself and the team in the series.
“It was an honour to race with the TCR World Tour guys,” said Park. “During the race I felt many things, the World Tour guys are really fast but it was a great experience for me and the team. We now have to prepare for tomorrow’s race, and aim to be in the top three on the podium.”
