Max Hart is impressed with the CUPRA Leon VZ of SP Compétition, after he drove it for the first time in today’s practices.
The Irish driver was only confirmed at the start of the week, but the team has found time to wrap the car with Hart’s green livery.
While Hart’s TCR career started with a first-generation CUPRA in 2020, he’s been racing Hyundai cars since 2021.
“We managed to wrap it last night and the car looks really good,” he said. “All of this has happened at the last minute, but the car’s turned out well, so I know my sponsors are going to be happy. The car has also surprised me. It’s very different to the Hyundai in every way, I couldn’t say if it was a better car as all these cars do the same lap times, but my first impressions are I liked it.”
Hart finished the first session in 12th, and the second in 13th, finishing just two-tenths of a second behind his new teammate Aurélien Comte.
“There’s more time to be found from me and from getting used to the car. I’ll follow the lead of my teammate and the team as they’ve been used to the car all year, I’ll give my feedback and work together to make our way forward.”
