Norbert Michelisz led a BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse 1-2 in the second and final practice session of the weekend, with the team looking on form heading into tomorrow morning’s qualifying.
The two-time champion was on top of the time sheets throughout most of the session, only briefly dropping back behind Ruben Volt’s Honda, who again would be the fastest of the ETS Guest Star Trophy drivers in third overall.
Michelisz’s best time was set in the middle part of the session, with a lap of 1:40.421 set in his Elantra keeping him on top until the end. Just before the chequered flag, Michelisz’s teammate Mikel Azcona, who had led the first practice session, jumped up to second, under a tenth of a second away.
Behind Volt was Esteban Guerrieri in his GOAT Racing Honda, while Aurélien Comte was the fastest of the CUPRA contingent, fifth overall and four-tenths away from Michelisz. The fastest of the new Geely Prefaces was Santiago Urrutia, with the Uruguayan eighth fastest, half a second down on the fastest time.
Many drivers failed to set truly competitive times due to stringent adherence of track limits required, mainly at Turns 6, 8 and the final corner.
The next session is the first qualifying of the season at 08:30 CEST tomorrow morning.
