BRC Hyundai’s Norbert Michelisz and Lynk & Co Cyan Racing’s Yann Ehrlacher topped the two free practice sessions held at the Circuit Moulay El Hassan ahead of qualifying for the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour this afternoon.
In practice 1, Michelisz was the only driver to get under the 51 second mark at the fast Moroccan circuit, leading his BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse teammate Néstor Girolami, despite carrying the maximum 40kg of compensation weight this weekend. Sami Taoufik was an impressive third fastest at his home venue in the Volcano Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS, just over two-tenths of a second down. The session was briefly red-flagged when Ehrlacher stopped on circuit after collecting some debris in the radiator
Ehrlacher then topped the second session in the afternoon, setting the best time of the day right of 50.197 at the end of the session, deposing Girolami by 0.030 seconds. Esteban Guerrieri made it three makes in the top three, and just under a tenth of a second back in his GOAT Racing Honda Civic, with Taoufik again quick, setting the fifth-best time in his Audi.
