Yann Ehrlacher, 1st: “Being on the podium here is always a good thing, and this is the first time I’ve won this race so I’m very happy. There’s always a warm welcome from the Portuguese fans in Vila Real. The track is amazing, and I’ve felt comfortable since free practice yesterday. I have 30kg of Compensation Weight, so I went all-in from FP1 and qualifying. Then today the main task was to stay in front and save the tyres to the end. It went well, we’ve still got good points today, and we still have one race to go so now we’ll focus on that.”
Santiago Urrutia, 2nd: “I’m very happy. All three of us here are at the top of the championship, so we’re fighting with each other and today we raced really clean. My season so far has been going well, finishing nearly every race apart from the problem I had in Monza. I’m enjoying it too, yesterday with P2 in qualifying despite a bit of rain at the end, but today the only chance I had to overtake Yann was at the start. He did a good start, so then I just stayed behind and took care of the tyres.”
Esteban Guerrieri, 3rd: “It probably could have been a good possibility to fight with Yann at the start, but I was blocked as Yann was there and Santi on the other side, and this circuit is very narrow. I’m pleased to be here on the podium, as this is a great track and one of my favourites. It’s difficult when you first arrive, but once you get used to it and you start pushing, it’s very fun. It was a good fight we were having, I could maybe have pushed a little bit more at the end of the race, I asked on the radio if I can push, I got no answer, so I started to push but I made a mistake in the second chicane and I gave up.”
