Santiago Urrutia, 1st: “At the start it was quite tricky, but I made a better start than Azcona so I could directly jump to P2 and then I got the help from Yann, as he let me go. Then we controlled the race from P1 and P2. The car was working really well, so I thank the whole team and also Yann.
It was just a team order, as we want the best for Geely Cyan Racing. We scored the maximum points in the race and we are now a bit closer to Mikel in the drivers’ championship.”
Yann Ehrlacher, 2nd: “The goal is to score maximum points for Geely Cyan Racing. There’s no mixed feeling about (the team order). I’m really happy to have put the car on pole again this year. We have had good pace and in the first time in China for Geely we won the pole. It’s been a very good day, and we go again tomorrow and see if we can maximise in the championship if we can.”
Jean-Karl Vernay, 3rd: “It was a really fun race. We struggled a bit on balance in qualifying and I was disappointed, but now I’m happy. I’m still a racer and enjoy the chance to come back after five years against these guys who have continued to race. It was a good day for myself, and I thank SP Compétition and CUPRA for the opportunity. Let’s see tomorrow, we have a good place on the reversed grid. I want to get ready for Macau...”
Diego Moran, winner Guest Star Trophy: “We are improving in every session, it’s a difficult track to learn and it’s great to be racing with these guys who have a lot more experience. We are learning every time we go on track and then we’ll keep working for tomorrow when we start on pole. It’s going to be very interesting.”
