Mikel Azcona, 1st: “It wasn't as easy as it looked. Santi (Urrutia) showed very good pace, even with 40 kilos of Compensation Weight, and in qualifying he was only two tenths behind me, so I wasn't sure I could defend my position in the race. I made a good start, and I must thank Norbi for allowing me to take the inside into T1. In the first few laps Santi was pushing hard and was very close, but after a couple of laps I started to feel more comfortable and could see he was struggling with the front tyres. I wasn't sure about the rain because normally we struggle more in wet conditions than the Geely cars but today was different. I'm super happy with the result and happy to be part of this team.”
Norbert Michelisz, 2nd: “My start was decent, but going side by side with Mikel into T1, I went slightly off the circuit and found myself behind Santi and Ma. I started pushing, I managed to get past Ma and then had a really good, fair fight with Santi. I'm very happy for Mikel because he deserved this victory. He's been driving flawlessly this weekend, and it's a fantastic result for the team.”
Santiago Urrutia, 3rd: “It was one of those days when you have to accept that you don't have the pace. Hyundai were much better than us from qualifying through to the race, and they were quicker even with the extra weight. I did my best, but there was nothing more I could do. Another podium is important for the championship, and now we need to improve for tomorrow, whether it's dry or wet.”
