UK-based team Vannin Motorsport enjoyed a successful weekend at the most recent TCR UK event in Donington Park, having signed up the reigning champion Adam Shepherd for a one-off appearance. The team was fastest in qualifying and went on to claim a victory and two other podiums, hot on the heels of its two recent appearances in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour at Valencia and Vila Real.
The team made its World Tour debut at Valencia in June, running a pair of Audi RS 3 LMS cars for Luke Sargeant and Manuel Fernandes jr, before returning for the challenging Vila Real street circuit, where Fernandes was joined by Stian Paulsen.
With Fernandes securing three consecutive points finishes across Valencia and Vila Real, and Sargeant also scoring points on his world stage debut, the team is pushing forward with plans to race again later this year. They intend to run a car at the Macau season finale, becoming the first British outfit to compete in the iconic Guia Race since Craft-Bamboo Racing in 2016.
“We’ve enjoyed a great weekend here in TCR UK. We put a car on pole position for all three races, and taking a win with a driver like Adam Shepherd was a fantastic result for the team,” said team principal Peppe Planeta.
“It’s been great racing back in the UK following our successful weekends in the TCR World Tour. Our focus now shifts to our next race in the championship, as we’ll definitely be going to Macau. As for who will be driving... well, we’ll reveal that a bit later…”
