Just two weeks after he made his TCR debut in the TCR Italy championship at Imola, Argentine youngster Ramiro Zago steps up to the World level, as he takes part this weekend in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour season opener at Misano.
Zago will be at the wheel of the same Honda Civic FL5 car run by MM Motorsport he uses in the Italian series.
“I’m happy for this opportunity,” Zago said. “It’s a unique chance and I’ll give my all to exploit it in the best way. I’m proud I will be racing against the fastest touring car drivers in the world and we will be working hard to achieve good results.”
Team principal Emanuele Alborghetti added: “Zago is an important prospect for the future of our team. He’s got talent, speed and a mature approach despite his lack of TCR experience. To bring him straight away into a context such as the World Tour is a rational choice, as we want to speed up his growth by putting him in competition with the best. We don’t ask him for sudden results, but to learn and build for the future.”
